Gap Year Programs

These programs offer the opportunity for students to spend a semester or a year after high school to broaden their life experience by participating in travel, outdoor education, cultural immersion, community service or internship. There are many such situations and the quality programs offer structure, supervision, specified program goals, and broad opportunity for personal growth. While these programs foster maturity through mentorship and life experience, they are not intended to work with students for whom mental health issues, substance abuse, or difficulties in social relationships require specific attention.

At times Gap Year Programs can be paired with a short term intervention which offers the high school graduate an opportunity to address above-mentioned issues such that she/he can participate in such a program as a bridge to college or next steps.
